the problem could be a dirty extractor or the extractor wasn't milled correctly, I know others had the problem sent it back to H&R, problem solved

Ryan, I had the same problem with mine when i first got it, i changed my shells. i was using light fields and i switched to remington accutips. problem solved. i tried cleaning the extractor, took it apart and sanded down the paint but that didnt seem to improve anything. try changing your ammo.
as for the original poster, the 20 guage has plenty of power to knock down a whitetail as others have said. personally i think its personal preference,, i use the 20 |
Okay thanks guys.

What range should I use to zero the 20 gauge? I've been looking for a ballistics chart and they are tough to find.

at 50 yards you want to be 2.5"/3" high
|
If you are considering a single shot gun, why not consider a rifle and get a muzzleloader?
|
Have the H & R in 12 guage. My Remington 500 with a catilever barrel is slighly more accurate but I got tired of re-sighting every time I changed barrels.
Recoil doesn't bother me but it's HEAVY. It gets the job done. Just don't like carrying it very far. |
Ultra Slug H&R
Hey fellas just bought an Ultraslug 12g. Just got one question Can 2 and 3/4 in slugs be shot from this gun or does it have to be 3" ?
|
20ga without question!!!! Kills them farther than most people can accuratley shoot. The 20ga is basically a modern propellant 50cal muzzleloader in a plastic hull. I have 2, 20ga and love them. A Mossberg Trophy Slugster and a Rem 11-87 Premier. Both with a rifled barrel and cantilever scope mount. VERY accurate at 100yds without a question.
They are sighted in 3" high at 50yds and dead on at 125yds, 6" low at 150yds. Puts all 5 back in the box at 125yds. And I own a Moss. Trophy Slugster in 12 and never use it. Kicks too much. Would rather shoot my ML. :fighting0007: |
