I have never seen or heard of deer eating lilly pads but check this doe I shot(with a video camera) pounding down the pads.

I think it was last year someone on this forum posted a video of a doe eating a baby bird. Deer are browsers, so they eat many things.

I read of a captive doe killing and eating a rat. Hard to say if this is normal though under those conditions. The rat may have been attracted to the deer feed, and the doe may have had a fawn. The doe may have been trying to eliminate something that could attract predators as opposed to eating the rat for food.

Was really weird, I didnt know they ate lilly pads. It looked kinda bloated but skinny though. I wonder if the lilly pad diet was making it weird.

Right now I'm seeing 3-6 deer every night out in the lily pads of the Kalamazoo River near where I live when I'm exercizing my pointer. Some are in the water deep enough that it's half way up their sides.
