late crop of fawns

I have heard of the same thing happening here, deer and car accidents. Within the last 2-3 weeks. I have heard of two different incidences where fawns were still in the womb. I live in Central NY.

Late fawns are common

This happens quite frequently in areas where the doe population highly outnumbers the bucks.

They do not get bred until their last estrous cycle, which may not happen until January in some cases.

I had twin fawns last year that still had their spots in October.

I don't know why the image didn't come through in my last post.

www.tastyvenison.com/fawn.html has a picture of these two fawns.
