How young to handle 20 gauge slug recoil?

I'd recommend shooting a .22 as much as possible, get her to like shooting and get good at it.
especially if you put a scope on the 20 guage, it iwll take very minimal time to switch to it.
Recoil fear is tough to beat once she has it, do everything you can to not get it. When she shoots at a deer, she won't feel a thing! I had to sight in my sons 20 guage for turkey and deer, he shot the 3 inch turkey load once, hated it, I asked him to do it again and he pulled way off the stock and was almost in tears. When he shot a turkey a few weeks later, he never noticed it.
