dont know when this was taken .suspect you all may have seen it before but figured i would share it anyway!

That was circulating several years ago....it' s not deer, it' s a cow and a calf elk...the pic also appeared in several magazines and newspapers. The picture was taken from a bridge near the fire. Truly sad if the animals didn' t make it out as several don' t. Especially small creatures who can' t travel the great distances sometimes needed. Other than that, fires are actually very good for wildlife, ecology etc...the new growth is tremendous.

I think that picture is from the year 2000 fire' s in Montana.

You are correct they are Elk. A Canadian FireFighter in Montana took the picture. The Elk did make it out OK..He refused all awards on the picture and gave out an OK for anyone to re-produce the picture.
