I have never seen one of these deer. Looks like good eating though. How big do the antlers get, and what shape do they take?
It kind of looks like the deer that I' ve seen on the Komodo Island nature shows.

Very observant Wrongway!
These are Sambar Deer, which are native to Indonesia, Sri Lanka and India and region.
They are real Komodo food.
This bloke was only 2 years old and weighed in at 300 pounds.
They get to 600 pounds! The Antlers are simple with the main beam growing to a max of 40" with only an inner tine and a brow tine.
We have an open season with these fella' s for rifle or bow.
Winter is a nice time to hunt with no flies etc.

Very Cool ellidj, thanks for sharing the pic, now let' s here the story....it' s great to see game other than the norm. Sometimes we get so caught up in whitetails and the good ole USA that we forget there is other hunting around the world. What other animals in Australia have you been fortunate enough to take and do you have any pics?
Great hearing from you from " Down under" [8D]
