The pics side by side, definitely put it in perspective. Its a big bobcat for sure....but doesn't look nearly what it did initially. Nice cat, good luck getting him :)

Obvious give away is the short, rather thin tail. Cougars and Lynx .... both are extremely rare in the deep south. Lynx have tufted ears. I do not see this feature on this cat.

Im going to say its a very large male bobcat..
