Small acreage is small
Most folks today can't own large pieces of property just for hunting. Property with 50, 100, 200 acres will not necessarily hold the deer you see on the trail cam. It's probably only on the property part of the time. There's always the proverbial sixteen year old archer on the adjoining property to shoot the big buck, you feed for some years.
I just saw a video of a professional biologist. He had over 1000 acres. The neighbor shot the big buck. Professionally the man knows he raises great bucks. He just doesn't get to shoot all of them. Reality is sometimes hard to take.
