Will deer bed down in a wet corn field?
#1
There is a lot of corn still up in the fields near the property that I hunt with my Dad and Uncle. We have not see that many deer this gun season. I got a big doe on opening day on her way to corn fields, other than that it has been very quiet.
The farmers are not harvesting the rest of the corn because the fields are too wet, so I'm guessing they are waiting for the ground to freeze.
So I guessing that all the deer are hiding out in the corn fields. Will they bed down in the corn if the field is wet?

They will bed down in a wet swamp! A wet corn field has all they want and need: Cover, food, water. Good chance there are some monster in there that never see the light of day outside that wet corn field.

Thanks everyone for confirming my reasoning for lack of deer sighting this year. Last year all the corn was down before gun season started. It was a dry fall.
Plus this year the DNR is allowing baiting again.
So the deer are just hiding in the corn and feeding on the bait at night.
