Default Is he gone

So after sitting all afternoon seeing nothing this happens. It's on the edge of last shooting light. I call it. Very quietly turn around and fold my seat. Then I hear faint footsteps. I peak over my shoulder and can't see anything. Then I hear more steps. I move my eyes down. There he is nice gleaming 8 point literally over the tips of my toes twenty feet below. I slowly rotate my muzzleloader up and start to turn around. He doesn't notice a thing and starts to walk. I find his antlers in the scope, pan to his shoulder. Slowly squeeze.... CLICK!!! What the????? I re****ed. He takes a few steps.... He is 15 yards .... CLICK!! He slowly walks off.... I cry ...... Not really .... Is he gone?

If he slowly walked off then I would say he will stick around. My wife missed a young 7 ptr with the muzzleloader one evening last year and I shot him out of the same blind the very next evening.
