i watch most of the monster buck videos, i can' t believe some of those hunts. others are down to earth, like on MB11 where Byron Ferguson shoots a buck with his longbow. THAT is hunting. Bill Jordan is just some fake. Anyone can shoot a deer at 300 yards that is coming to the feeder or penned up.

Red allison how do you know fitzgerald is a poacher? Was he caught breaking the law,and if he was could you please post the details. If he was caught poaching than he will lose me as a viewer of his show. But tell the facts, not rumors ok.Also another point is you can have a successful show without shooting animals in a pen.Every deer you shoot is a trophy if you worked hard to get it.

And..................WHERE' S THE DRAG?!?!?!?!

Those sissy pants probobly couldn' t even drag their " game" a hundred yards, let alone a half mile, mile or maybe even two.

Then again why would they have to, they' ve got folks to do everything for them (except pull the trigger!). What we don' t see (edited) is their maids laying their hunting clothes out for them, their cooks making them breakfast and their butlers serving them breakfast (and coffee and pastries in the field) and chauffeurs driving them out to the " woods" .

Heck when we go huntin it' s a special priveledge just top go to Dolly' s for breakfast if we can roll out of the sack early enough!

Just one thing...KEEP THOSE SISSY PANTS OUT OF OUR CAMP!

I toally a agree with you. That is not even hunting. Yes, I watch those hunting tapes. The reason I watch them is so I can try and pick up on some hunting tips. Those guys on the videos should try some real hunting. When you sit on your butt all day and dont see a single deer.

Its entertainment television folks. These TV hunters cant afford to run around for 3 or 4 days and see only a few does and an occassional nice buck. The quicker and better the footage, the better the viewing audience hence more money to make more shows. Alot of these areas they are hunting are just large strictly managed hunting lands without fences. I know its not realistic to my personal hunting situation but I still enjoy watching it.

I agree totally with you guys. I used to see these shows and think, wow, if only I could afford to go on a hunt like that. Now, years later, I could afford it but I just dont want to. I couldnt shoot an animal under those conditions. Good grief, where' s the sport in flying in, being told exactly where to set up, what kind of trophys are on the property and exactly what time you can expect to see them come by? I take a huge amount of pride in every deer I take, regardless of size, becuase I work hard for every one of them. And my buddies think I' m crazy, but I insist on dragging every one of them out of the woods by myself. No four wheeler, no cart, no help. MAN! Nothing feels better than that miserable hard job. And the sore muscles I can still feel at work for three or four days afterward just remind me about my hunt...pure heaven.

I' m not crazy about his organization, but Ted Nugent' s Spirit of the Wild show is pretty good...at least he doesn' t go apesh!t over the rack (usually), but he does get VERY excited about being able to provide FOOD for his family...which is one of the reasons that I hunt.

Primos is pretty good too...but that' s the only one I' ll watch, when I can.

I' ve gotten to the point where I' ve quit watching a lot of the hunting shows. It' s to the point where I honestly believe the deer is member of SAG and dies on command. I would love to see a few blown shots, a couple of oops and maybe even a bad day or two. Or maybe pass up a shot on a good deer because they' re 4 or 5 miles from the truck, with 15 minutes of light left, and hunting alone. Lastly, being from the south and living else where, I' m very sensitive about the Hee-Haw impression that most people have of southerners. These shows, for the most part, certainly don' t help. I' ve come to call them " bubba soap operas" . Anyway venting out of the way, I guess after all " that' s entertainment" .

I look at them for what they are...a money producing form of entertainment. Nothing more, nothing less. If we didn' t watch them and advertisers didn' t pay good money, then off the air they would go. My probelm with these shows is that it does not represent an accurate description of what deer hunting is all about. It gives a false account from beginning to end. It' s no wonder that non-hunters think it should be easy to shoot a deer and a big buck at that. Just go into the woods, stay quiet for a few moments, then pick out the biggest buck you see and then shoot him. There probably won' t be much blood because it will usually only be one shot and tracking won' t be an issue either. Down he will go just a few steps from where he was shot. High 5 your buddy, take a few photos and that will be it.

We all know that' s not how it happens in the real world and it' s just too bad that most other people didn' t realize it as well.....

Andy Rooney did a bit once on the " only bad news" criticism of the media. " News Flash: I' m standing here at O' Hare International Airport in Chicago. Today, at 5:13am a 747 loaded with 297 passengers successfully took off from Heathrow Airport in London on a non-stop flight to Chicago. A few moments ago that plane landed here without incident. The plane did not experience mechanical problems. No passengers got sick. Everything went just fine. And now, back to the news." The point here is that what NORMALLY happens isn' t worth our time and attention. Let' s face it, a hunting video of OUR hunts would involve lots and lots and lots of sitting and lots of squirrel induced cold sweats. I wouldn' t want to see a hunting video of me sitting in the woods, looking around, trying to keep warm, wondering if I should call it a day, reading a book, having a coronary when a cat walks by, and etc. BUT, if you filmed all of my hunts and edited out all the sitting and JUST kept the actual dear kills, it might be kind of fun (watching those massive does fall). NOW, the guys that put a record setting deer in a fenced in back yard and shoot it do seem to be violating the spirit of the hunt, but even fair chase videos are going to look spectacular once they edit out all the waiting.
