Question Buck Movement and Wind Direction ?

I heard that where slopes/ridges/hills are present, bucks like to bed on the leward side of the slope. However this last weekend while out hunting I finally saw some good movement of both bucks and does in the morning. There was a west wind (that was slightly south) and the does all travelled to an east-facing slope/point to bed. However the bucks travelled towards a wooded ridge that faces north and they travelled a ways to get to this ridge.

So is it possible they don't always bed with wind at their back when on a slope?
