two years ago i was buck hunting in P.A. first day of buck season I was up in my tree stand it was about 9:00AM when I heard these turkeys squawking all of a sudden two of them run down the hill like all git out so I look where they came from and out of the brush comes one more he is being chased by this hawk the hawk jumps on top of him and sinks his claws into the turkey and they both roll about 20 feet past me then when the turkey starts tiring out that red tail sticks his claws right in to the turkeys head thats all she wrote for that turkey it quivered a few times and that was it . then the red tail started pulling out feathers to get to the breast meat . I got down out of my tree stand to look closer and he dragged it down the hill i left him alone he must have been preety hungry before this i would never have thought that they killed turkeys wish i had a video camera that day what a facinating thing to see. so take a youngster out with you keep hunting alive

PaBH. good story I would never of thought that they would try to take a turkey either. But if he was hungry I wouldn't doubt it either. Man that would of been something to video. That would of been a great on to send to home videos realtree I think that is who has the home videos

Wow, that is an incredible story. I would have love to have seen it too. I just started getting into "bird" watching myself after a recent trip up to a local "bird of prey" site called "Hawk Mountain".

I can believe it. I used to think that the storys about them taking farm animals and birds was BS. Well a big ole red showed me other wise. He got two cats and a large roade island red rooster at our place a few years ago. The last cat was his undoing. He picked it up and was headed out of the yard crossing the road out front and didn't allow himself enough room with the oncoming farm truck, became a wild looking grill ornament along with the cat he'd just killed.

I've had hawks come to where I was calling before. I like to sit and do a lost hen, purring and putting. I thought it was just coincidence. I wonder if it was looking for the Turkey ?
