Had four daughters and no sons. Only my oldest went with me hunting but she just helped me watch for deer. You've made yourself a hunting partner for life! Congrats!

Great story! Nothing like your son getting his first deer - I remember how excited my boy was a few years back.

Thanks everyone, we appreciate it. Still very excited and proud of him! I had the big smoker running until about 11:30 last night smoking up 25 pounds of pepperoni sticks. Fresh steaks and loins for dinner last night, couldn't ask for any more.

Icing on the cake, thats what comes after the hunt and you are blessed to share this with your son. Great job, great times and still more season left to do it again. As has been said there is nothing like your first deer,it matters not if your 10 of 53 like I was when I got my first deer it's still quite special to us all.

Yeah it will be fine. Actuall pretty big deer for being this years fawn. By her size you would think she was a small 1 1/2 y/o. Just by the way she was with her the last few days and hung out after the shot I could tell it was hers.

Congratulations ! To both of you. My son is only five but he is filled with excitement to get hunting. I took him out last season and it was one of the best hunts I was ever on in my 17 yrs of hunting. We didn't see one deer but it was FUN like hunting should be.
