It is not legal in NY. No, I dont. (baiting is considered anything- food, molasses, salt, that a deer can ingest...not hunting over an established crop or natural food source).
It seems to me baiting turns hunting into just shooting... hardly a show of skill or sportsmanship.

hunting here in cayuga county ny we cannot bait but i will still set up along corn, bean or overgrown apple orchards. i do not think of that as just shooting but trying to put myself into a spot that i think a deer may pass through.

Down here in the southeast baiting is legal, and many of us do it. I think it fully depends on the situation that the hunter is in. Many people are in hunting clubs with limited amount of land, and your designated area may not be the best.
To each his own I guess.

Ala. --- loose feed bait not allowed. Includes any "deer block", pellet, or other attractant that contains a food item. We can hunt over agriculture fields.
Can also plant and hunt over these food plots. This is the usual practice.

yes. i probably put out 2,000 or more pounds of corn a year i put out a couple 100 pounds out today while i was trimming stands and running cams. i will make one more outing to put out fresh corn and trim out a couple more stands out right before the start of bow season. then i will go out once every week or week in a half to put fresh corn out. i usually stop just right before the rut starts then i will start back up again after the rut ends and continue until deer season is over.
