Smile Hot Fall Forecasted

No doubt all or most of us are hoping for a cold fall this year instead of the heat we had in October and November throughout most of the country last season. Well the forecasters at this time are calling for an even hotter weather pattern than last year. I hope they are wrong, but my gut says they are probably right based on what we are seeing at this time around the country. I've begun to plan my hunting times and locations accordingly,as well as the gear I was most comfortable in last year during early bow season. I tried to get in my stand sites as late as possible to cut down on the sweating and I used the ones in the shade and a little closer to the field edges where I could catch a little breeze if there was any. I tried hunting near water sources as advised but few deer showed up in the evening hours except for one doe with 2 fawns and a small buck all to far away for a shot being on another mans property. I don't know if they mostly come to them at night or early in the morning but I saw very little during the day. I know they were in the fields eating thats for sure, but they seemed to bed so close to the food that I got busted trying to get in on them for a shot. I learned one thing for sure that they do ease their way out into the open right at or near the end of legal light in the evening. In one spot I hunted they would always appear consistantly at dusk but I had no place to hang a stand where they would show up. I'm going to try a blind this year and see if that will get me close enough for a shot. Those of you who hunt in hot climates consistantly any input to help us all be more porductive this year would be greatly appreciated.

doetrain, from what I found, like our area's early archery season could be cooler than average. good news there.

Even the month of November appears average (for us at least).

Funny thing is, not too often these prediction centers seem to hit it spot on, so I'm hoping it's at least cooler this year on the last day of archery, than it was last year.

I hope thats the way it plays out, cooler would be much appreciated for me personally I sweat really bad when the humidity is slightly up. What part of Indiana do you hunt? I'm in the Lanesville and Sulpher area. I also have a spot in Memphis IN that has been good to me.

I hope we have a cold fall because I hate swatting at mosquitoes and gnats in my stand. Here's to hoping for a cold fall.

Damn fools and old people predict the weather! That said I'll bet on a colder fall.

I'm around the Evansville area along the Ohio River. Yeah sweating on the way to the stand and even sitting in the stand is asking for a few blows and "white tail flashing".

Last year in west michigan it was warm. I took the week off before gun season (nov15th gun) That's the best time for me plus the rut is just kicking in to full gear (really cool to watch) & it was in the mid 70's and sunny....i loved it. Got to see a ton of action. I have the same time off this year and don't care if it's that warm again. I like dressing light anyways. The funny thing was two weeks later it was pretty dang cold...lol thats michigan for ya
