45 colt caliber vs whitetail??
Hi,
I came here to ask my question since I am a little ignorant of the ballsitics of a 45 colt,250gr lead(or whatever is best), moving at 1,000fps. I was reading on another forum about a particular sixgun in 45 colt and that if loaded like the above would be able to take a whitetail if close enough ( how close, he did not say, but I assume maybe 25yds or less or thereabouts). Does anyone know for sure if this is possible? 1000 fps seemed kind of slow even if it is a 250gr bullet. I figure there are more experts about that here Let me know!

I shot a mule deer at 150 yards with a 210 gr bullet traveling 1250 fps out of a 41 mag. So I'm very positive that 45 long colt load would dump a whitetail on it's head. Handgun hunting is usually for around 100yards or less. I'm not promoting shooting long yardage with a pistol just saying it can be done.
