Default Tree stand story

I have to tell this story. Years ago (in the "early" days of climbing tree stands) a friend used to make climbing tree stands (copying a popular design) and sell them cheap. I was over to his house when another of our buddies came over to buy one. There was a tall pine tree that you could try these out on in his yard and this buddy climbed 20' right up that tree nice as could be. The thing with these stands (and probably the original design) was that you did not dare move your weight to the side instead of the center. Well our buddy did and that stand came "ratcheting" down the tree just like a car jack... Our buddy was clinging to the tree with his arms and knees and just rode it as it steadily made it's way down the tree... chuka...chuka..chuka..chuka.....

It was such a funny sight we were laying on our sides laughing with tears pouring out of our eyes. His arms were pretty scratched up though but he was laughing along with us.

If you use any stand wear a safety belt. This could have been real nasty.
