let me give you a little info about me before i start. im not looking to trade a hunt im just looking for hunting information.
my best friend and I are looking to go to east tennessee to do a whitetail bowhunt, and a rifle black bear hunt (we live in southwest missouri). my grandparents live in polk county (on the hiawassee river to be exact), so we have a place to stay. i was searching for some hunting information as far as public land use areas. i guess i was wondering if you know of any good areas where we would have success and have a chance to take one of these animals. i found the information on permits and season dates. thanks in advance for all the help and good luck with this seasons hunts.

i hunt in east tennessee in johnson county and around south holston lake. Bobcat, I' d say your buddy was hunting on cherokee nation forest. There are so many acres that it would be easy to get away from all the other hunters. Sometimes its easy to get permission to hunt on private land and sometimes its not. Alot of it here is leased out but if u can find some that isn' t then they usually let you hunt (alot of the farmers hate em cause there ruining there crop). As far as any big deer goes, well, there here but not in great numbers. I talked to a guy that hunts on Meades (there a construction company that also has large tracts of woods and corn fields) and he thinks that his buddy might have the new tn state record. He said it grossed 190 something.

You can hunt Tellico for bear, boar, and deer. Tellico plains is one county northeast of polk county. Type in TWRA in yahoo and you' ll get the tennessee wildlife resources agency. From there you can look at the wildlife management areas and the paper mill lands that are available in that area.
