Default Killed a cripple

I must be gettin soft. I havent killed a spike in quite a few years but this one really got to me draggin his back leg up the ridge, so I decided to burn my buck tag and put em down before the yotes got em. Tough little guy though, put a 250gr shockwave, doing 2300fps from my savage .50, through his heart& lungs and he still stumbled 40yds on 3 legs! died within a minute though. Oh well hell eat good and I already got a decent 8 point in bow season so Im glad I did it, his ankle was broken and infected pretty bad. To be honest I actually enjoyed the hunt, poken holes in deer and watchn em drop within sight, just never get old.

Well done. You mention the ankle being infected. Is the meat safe to eat? I'm asking because I don't know.
