I havent killed a spike in quite a few years but this one really got to me draggin his back leg up the ridge, so I decided to burn my buck tag and put em down before the yotes got em. Tough little guy though, put a 250gr shockwave, doing 2300fps from my savage .50, through his heart& lungs and he still stumbled 40yds on 3 legs! died within a minute though. Oh well hell eat good and I already got a decent 8 point in bow season so Im glad I did it, his ankle was broken and infected pretty bad. To be honest I actually enjoyed the hunt, poken holes in deer and watchn em drop within sight, just never get old.

I shoot 42 grs of imr4759 (the factory recommended load) I just use a SW instead of the XTP. I posted some more pics n stuff in the BP forum.

Im not sure I guess Ill find out when I cut em up, there was some puss coming out of the wound but I dont know if it spread to the rest of em. Im guessing he got hit by a car.
