I shot a buck last weekend that was chasing a doe. He was moving pretty quick and into some heavier brush so I tried to grunt at him but he just kept moving. I might not have been loud enough. Right before he got in the thick stuff I gave him a whistle and he stopped in his tracks. I already had the gun up in position when I whistled so as soon as he stopped I pulled the trigger.

I've whistled, grunted and yelled at them and it works most of the time. Sometimes if they are running they just keep going but most of the time it works. I've even shot at them when they were still and missed and they started to trot off or run and I whistled or grunted and they would stop and then I made good on my shot.
