I never hear anyone talk about them, but I have used Winchester standard velocity sabot slugs with excellent results in my fully rifled 870. Accurate and will go through a deer at 100 yards. I would think that they would cleanly harvest a deer out to 120 yards, I just don't ever get a shot that far. I have shot at game or targets more than 150 times over 15 years and never had an issue with accuracy or effectiveness.

my gun likes the 3in winchester partition golds and the 2 3/4 hornady sst's seem to shoot nice out of it as well. the 2 3/4 xp3 though will not group for me very well. those are the only ones that will group for me. found my winner lol. my dads 870 likes the federals pretty well.

I use the 870 Mag. 12 guage..and fresh out of the box..I agree ..It stunk..so I took an experts advise and bought the Gobble Dot sights from Cabelas to shoot it in for turkey.WOW!!!!what a difference..Then I put in my improved cyklinder choke and I was mouth opened in shock at the 3 inch groups at 100yds..I honestly could not believe the binoculars..I thought maybe it was luck so I kept shooting..I am very happy..At 50 yds they were tighter than 2 inches..I'm using it this year when I hunt in thick places.

I was using the cheap Walmart 2 3/4 inch WInchesters..they work wonderfully
