Re-using mechanical broadheads?
Hi:
New to the forum and new to using mechanical broadheads (NAP Spitfires). Do these heads have multiple uses in them? In other words, if I shoot a deer with a clean-through shot and retrieve the arrow...can the head be cleaned up and used again? What do you guys do?
I suppose I could retire the head and use after that just for target practice...but these are rather pricey.

I use Grim Reapers and I am still using two which I have killed deer with. Mine were both pass through shots and they showed no damage to the heads. If after you clean them and inspect them if they close back up and fly right I will reuse them. If you don't want to risk it toss them or refit them with new blades if possible thats cheaper than buying new complete heads.

Just take the 3 little screws out of them and drop out the blades and tensioners. You can clean it out so it operates properly after loading up with tissues or whatever. When the blades are damaged beyond repair, keep them for practice shooting and put new ones in for hunting. They WERE on sale, 9 blades for 10 bucks at cabelas.
