Doe week in Maryland, I of course see...
5 BUCKS!!!!!
I've been hunting about 3 days a week since mid september. I've seen one small buck at a distance the whole time. I see does 80-90% of the time. We've had a warm fall here so I haven't taken any does yet, especially knowing there was a week long doe muzzleloader season coming up. I'd like to have meat in the freezer before rut season so I can worry about bucks and not getting meat. Well tomorrow is the last day and due to work/family, I've only been out 3 times, 2 mornings and one evening. Well my slam dunk week to get meat in the freezer has brought me 0 doe sightings, not even 1!!!!!! At the same time, yesterday evening I had 2 seperate 6 points and 2 4 points all within easy range. This morning I go out in windy conditions and I see a beauty 8 point trot by my stand. This evening calls for 25mph winds so I'm using tonight to take my "widow by hunting" fiance out and tomorrow will be a full hunting day. Temps are supposed to be near freezing for the first time of the season, so my fingers are crossed. I swear the deer got a copy of the season dates somewhere out there!
