New guy looking for some advice
Hey guys, I am a college student that loves to hunt. I live in North Central Kansas. I was wondering if you experienced deer hunters could help me. I would like to make a small foot plot near our farm, but I am not sure what to put in it. I am on some what of a budget, but any ideas are welcome. I already have a permanent blind set up. I also have a feeder with corn, and put out Acorn Rage. However, I want to put something out there that is going to help the deer grow bigger racks. Thanks, Kaid

to the community Kaid. We are glad to have you here. I don't have any experience with food plots but wanted to welcome another Kansan to the forum! I'm sure you will get some great advice from the wealth of knowledge here on this forum.
There are alot of great folks here. Good luck this season!

I cleared an old power line this year. Cleared loose debris and scratched up the ground and spread Evolved Harvest, Mega Plot (Forage Oats, Turnips, Triticale, Clover) I bought at Walmart for $20 (1/2 acre bag). It's coming in and looking good. Small food plots don't cost much, just the time to clear and prepare the area. Go for it! Not every one will work as planned, but nothing ventured nothing gained.

Save what money you do have and plant a crop you can harvest after the deer have taken all they can before you do.

well we plant stuff that deer like, but its not right in front my our deer blind. For some reason crops don't grow in that bottom where our blind is. So I was wanting something that we could grow down there, that would bring deer in and also help with the bucks racks.
