All of you Deerhunters that use a portable climbing treestand. What do you like/dislike about them, and what would you change if you could?

Thanks

I haven't used one yet, but I probably will be next year. I was going to post the same question. Because just two weeks before deer season last year, the tree that holds my permanent stand(which I built myself and modified to an acceptable;if not excessive, level of comfort over the last fifteen years)
was toppled by some 75 mph winds. So thanks for asking my question for me, and I'll keep checking in for info.

i used to hunt alot out of permanent stands. i like that the portable stands can be moved as the deer patterns move and also they're not an eyesore if anyone sees them in the summer, b/c they're taken down and put in your garage

I think the big advantage is in the name given to them portable.
I have seen deer look for hunters in permanent stands. The only thing I might not like about them is, if you have to move, even if you try and be as quiet as possible, you may spook a big buck.

hey the first time a deer is feeding DIRECTLY below you. i mean you could spit on it, you will be hooked.

Portability is the key word! Being able to move to where the deer are, is what makes the climbers worth the money!
Soarkrebel hit it too! Being close enough to a deer to touch it, is AWESOME!
I still use permanent ladder stands and box stands, but when things get slow, pull out the climber!
The best buck I ever killed, I was sitting in my climber, about twenty yards from one of my permanent ladder stands! I actually think that the empty ladder stand acted as a decoy! He looked right at that stand and saw that it was empty. He would have busted me if I had been sitting there, but he never noticed me just a few yards away in my Treelounge! BTW, there are many good climbers on the market, I just prefer the Treelounge! Climbers are well worth the investment, Good luck!

I have an old model Treelounge, it is heavy and I had to repaint it every year. They supposedly have taken care of both of those problems. I don't know, but it is the most comfortable stand I know of, but I would like to know if it is still loud during assembly around a tree?

The ability to hunt from many different positions give a lot of flexibility and it is great.

The only down sides as far as I'm concerned is that you will make a bit more noise getting set up and it will take more time than just getting to a permanant stand and being ready to hunt right away.

I have an API Grand Slam Magnum Super Supreme because I am a big guy. And I have really enjoyed having the flexibility this year.

I prefer hang ons with screw in steps any time I can use em.But when you're on public land that aint allowed so I have a loggy bayou lite. Its not bad for a climber but all climbers make some noise and you gotta have the right tree. Been looking at Lone wolfs climber with the nylon, plastic or whatever climbing band. Anyone out ther have one? how do you like it?
