I have two friends that hunt with .243's. One shoots Winchester Power Points, and has no issues dropping deer if he hits it well. The other started out shooting Winchester Power Points, but he later switched to Hornady 95 Grain SST's as he said he tried a few rounds and it did the most damage and did the best job on deer. These are not the Super Performance ones, but the regular one. The guy with the SST's has dropped several deer over the last couple of years with his. The other guy has dropped 2 that I know of, but those are the only two he shot with this .243.

Have had great success with the 100g Sierra GK. Just started handloading the 95g Nosler BT. Interested to see how they perform

As some of the others said, you may have to try different brands to get accuracy. I have a 99 Savage and Winchester and Federal shoot unbelievably bad in it.(6-7 inch groups @ 100 yards) The Remington Core Lokt .243s shoot a 3 shot group you can cover with a quarter @ 100 yards. The others are way too hot for a lever action and make the bolt sticky when you cycle the gun. Anyway, I have done good on white tails with Remington .243 ammo.

Simple and easy statement, but holds true. I use the Hornady bullets for my 30-30... and they will kill every single deer within 200 yards, but they do not group as well as the CoreLokts I've used in the past.(in my gun)

Sometimes when you think you're not grouping well, it's not you, but the ammunition. Some shells do well out of your gun better than others, so for the best grouping results, it pays to try several different ammunition to see what is good in your gun.

Yeah, um... I don't think that's gonna work very well in a .243...
