pre-rut, right before the rut is my fav time, feel like the respond to a grunt call better then than other times usually, chasing does in the rut they're not pulling off those does for nothing...

also be in the right spot/right time...

before the rut a ussually do a little soft grunting. other than that i hunt places like funnels between food and bedding areas, also ill look for acorns, when they drop thats where deer will be. also in like october i carry my tiny rattling horns and may make a little sparring session like between two little 1 old bucks and alot of times more dominant bucks may come and try to run the younger deer off, esspecially 2 weeks and closer to the rut

I don't bring them to me I go to them. Hunt a food source or between the bedding and feeding area. I killed my biggest buck in the Oct. lull as he was going to the white oaks.

Its good to have atleast 2 to 3 trailcameras to have at each fav stand..pin point where the buck your tryin to take is going to be...and sit there...Get as close as you can to bedding area as possiable.. but not to close..lol..i stay outta the woods a month before season starts..then sneak in quite opening day and bust em

before the rut i dont call much unless it is extremly dead. you can use soft grunts and i carry a set of little horns in my bag until the rut and just tickel em together like 2 little bucks sparring
