Smile Huntin Grub

When watching hunting shows and seeing all the food the outfiters provide for their paying customers I can't help but wonder how they can stay in the stands all day after so much food being eaten. If I ate that much food I'd be coming out of the stand and looking for a hole to fill before noon. Most of us brown bag it in the pack,I'm curious as to what gets you through the day without being uncomfortable in the stand or hungry. This is what works for me at 5am, coffee, peanut butter with honey on wheat toast,an apple once I get set up,two cliff bars one for mid morning one for the mid afternoon, one gatoraide 2 bottles of water. And a snickers bar when I get tired of the cliff bars. I was amazed at how much energy I had all day by eating less and hey I lose weight every season as well. Also I try to eat supper as early as possible the night before the hunt as well.

no matter what else happens, usually if you are well fed and happy with the grub, you remember having a good time.

I just make sure I eat a good, healthy breakfast that will give me all the energy I need for the morning. I also bring some snacks with me just in case I get hungry. Usually beef jerky or granola bars or something like that. Unless it's the rut, I usually break for lunch and go home or somewhere to grab a bite. Then come back and set for the rest of the afternoon. It really depends on the day and what I have going on. I don't hunt all day very often.
