My friend just picked up one of those savage 20ga bolt guns, I was very impressed, nice and light for a bolt action shotgun, and no pump or semi's trigger can match the accutrigger.

If I was hunting private land,I would choose a muzzleloader.On public land I would choose the slug gun because you have to be more concerned about range,cover,tracking,and a quicker follow up due to the number of other hunters.Some may try to claim your kill.A good slug gun/load and practice will still get you well over 100 yards and alittle scouting can take care of the rest.

I have hunted with slug guns my whole life every since I was 16 and old enough to deer hunt I have a mossberg 695 bolt action it will shoot and kill a deer out to 200 yards I have killed deer to this distance. The 870 with a rifled barrel is okay as well. I really like the looks of the savage 220 though and they are very accurate it all depends on what you can afford.
