Default Scrapes in the spring???

Ive come across three scrapes this spring where the deer are actively keeping them open. I have a trail camera on one and have several pictures of deer working the scrape (looks like several bucks and a few does) Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone know the cause of such behavior??

Deer will work scrapes year round, though they are less likely to go through an entire scrape sequence outside of the rut time frame. This time of year there may be an increase in scrape activity as bucks get a surge of testosterone when they begin antler growth.

Every year during spring turkey season we find fresh worked scrapes in south Alabama, but our rut doesn't start till mid Jan.

as it gets warmer...their head itches more and more...so they are just scratchin it...lol...we make a few decoy scrapes in the same spot every year, they tend em perty much all year round...sometimes addin 1 or 2 themselves in the immediate area.
