Morning or night?

From experience only, at which hours of the hunting day have you seen the most deer movement? I know it' s an original question but answer it anyway. Thanks.

RE: Morning or night?

From my experience I have seen more movement in the mornings, but I also see a lot in the evenings too. Last year due to my work schedule, there were some days I was not able to make it in the woods until around 9 or 10 am. I was pleasantly suprised at the amount and quality of deer I saw during the middle of the day when everyone else was leaving!

I usually don' t get out in the morning, but when I do, I see more deer at a time than I do in the evening. And I would probably rather shoot one In the morning because You have more time to track and dress your deer. A downed deer in the woods over night has a high risk of eather getting eaten by a predator or getting spoiled meat.[X(]

Evening, only because that is the preferred time of day for me to sit in a stand. Two hours in the morning and 3 1/2 in the evening is about all my old bones can stand.

Depends on the time of year and location I am hunting. I usually hunt more evening than morning in bow and ML season. It seems to be good for movement and works out better with work, etc. However later in the year I hunt all day and during the late prerut & rut 10-3 is the best time for me...of course I hunt close to the bucks bedrooms at this time of year. Post rut either early or later in the day are about equal, the midday sightings drop off considerably, so I usually hunt the peak times. If your hunting transition areas between bed and food, either should be productive, as long as you can get in position in the am without spooking the game. If you hunt food sources than the evening is usually the perferred time, as the deer will be in the field already, making approach difficult...as such many choose to not chance it and get in before the deer do. I think the mornings as a rule are cooler and this should equate to more movement, but it really depends on the set up to which time will be best.

I hunt mostly mornings. At my age, my eyes do not pick out the deer well enough to give me the confidence to shoot. Also, in our area I notice the most harvesting is done in the mornings. I will set in some of my stands in the evening on occation to check movement, which I find is very near total dark, and at that time I can' t even see them in my scope. I envy you fellows that can see in low light conditions.

I usually see more deer movement the last hour before dark.

Morning,I' ve gotten most of my deer in the morning.I think it' s easier for most people to get to there stand in the evening, which is why thats when they most like to hunt.Walking to a stand in the dark isn' t for some people.

Without a doubt, in the morning. Between 7-9 seems to be the " Magic Hours" .

Depends on what area I hunt, but most of the time is just after daybreak when I see the most activity...;)

I would have to say that I see alot more deer in the morning than I do in the afternoon. Almost all the deer that I have gotten have been in the morning.

Mornings win hands down for me,,altho my best buck so far was killed in the afternoon..After the weather cools down & the rut kicks in I generally either hunt all day or until around 3 PM,,depending on my chosen spot..I' ve noticed that if I have an un~productive 1st few hours after daylight,,well,,around 10 AM I get th ol IBalls on full alert & lots of times the deer will be a buck at that time of day..

I probably see alot more deer in the morning if I' m sitting. Or any time of the day if it' s raining. But almost every buck I' ve ever killed was in the middle of the day, while still-hunting.:)

The first few hours of light have been good to me, but on the rainy or snowy days, around 11am to 1pm can get pretty active!!

Mornings....especially during warm weather or in areas
with a good deal of hunting pressure. Also, deer after
moving throughout the night, tend to be more relaxed
during early morning hours or let' s just say, they seem
to be a bit easier to catch ' off guard' ;).

Well I have seen more deer in the morning and killed my biggest buck in the morning, but I have killed more in the afternoon, but then again I hunt more in the afternoon after work. They move on and off throughout the day during the rut.

On our lease usually we see them move about two hours after daybreak. Then late afternoon again.I' ve seen several in the heat of the day around noon time.If I had to pick one time late afternoon would be my choice.

I would have to say in the morning. The best time is between 8:00 to 10:00. I' ve sat in tree stands in the late afternoon and have never seen anything.

Shot the majority of my deer in the morning. In the evening, they are more predictable and you can pretty much pattern them. Morning they come back in as they get full/tired and are ready to bed down, no way to patern them. During the rut, from 8:00am to 3:30pm is the best time to be near bedding areas for me. Things kinda slow down until dusk after that.

I would have to say overall morning has been more productive for me over the years.

I will say however, that the 2 biggest bucks I' ve ever taken were taken at almost noon. When the rut is full swing, I have alot of sucess staying on stand all day.

I would say the evening is the most productive for me.

RE: Morning or night?

I see more deer in the early moring hours for the most part. I have killed many deer in both the morning and evening. However the biggest bucks I have seen and killed have been during very late moring and early after noon. During the rut, this is the absolute best time to get a wallhanger. You normally don' t see many deer but the ones moving are the big toads. During the rut 10am to 1pm is primetime.
