Treestand height

How high do you guys like to get in your deer stands? I get between 20 and 30 ft, while my dad gets as high as he can, sometimes up to 60 ft or more. He has also hunted out of the top of 100+ ft pine trees using a tree saddle. I was just wondering how high the majority of you get. Thanks.

Most of the time I have plenty of cover between 15 and 25 feet.

Here in MN you sometimes have to get over 20 feet to see over the thick under brush (Up here they don' t let you burn it.[:@]) But when you are away from the brush, I would say 15 to 25 ft. too.

I' m with timbercruiser. I go as high as I can and still have good visibility. A few years back I was in a pine tree around 45 to 50 feet high. I had an old doe come in to about 25 yards from the tree I was in. She was one of those that jumps at any sound or movement around her. Just out of curiosity I stood up and turned completely around in my climber with no obstructions between us. She never knew I was there. Good advice is to only go as high as you' re comfotable with however high that may be.

It will depend on the terrain, tree, and available
cover. Rarely will I get above 20 feet because
of the shot angle. Usually I hunt from heights
of 18-20 feet, though some stand sites allow the
stand to be hung at 14-15' . Last year I took my
buck from a small oak tree with the stand no
more than 13-14' . My tree had leaves everywhere
and the ground below me where the deer traveled
fell away sharply.

Where exactly do you aim, when shooting from a
stand at 50-60 feet? 100+[:o]
