Default Buck still with antlers?

Ok its March 30 I am in NoVA and I just saw a buck with about six does and he still has a nice rack. What gives I would think he would have shed them by now.

I have seen a buck with antlers around Easter before. It's a hormone thing and some bucks have more than others. By the way, the rack I saw was a small basket, probably yearling, 6-pointer. It's entirely possible. It'll be gone soon.

I think I might have heard somewhere that the younger they are ,the longer it takes for them to shed. I don't know if it is true but just what I heard.

I saw two bucks running together last Friday here in NW Florida, both were about 9 or 10 pointers.

Default I'm sure we'll all get a good biology lesson

with all those trail cams in the woods. Trail cams, paid for by interested hunters, sure outnumber the paid wildlife biologists working for the state agencies.

I saw a 4.5 year old buck on the 25th of March with both sides yet here in Wisconsin. It also depends on how much stress they had during winter. I know in our area there were 2 big standing corn fields so they didn't have the stress of finding food like other years.

Trail camera down loads covering from March 23 - March 27, 2010 down here in SE Alabama ..... dozens of bucks with full set of antlers. From obviously very young "first rack" spikes to bruiser 10's .... and everything in between. A few others had one side only. I have found one 2010 shed, but that is it.

And of coarse there's the odd ball doe that gets antlers. I've been told that they sometimes don't drop theirs.
