Exceptional bucks can be found in nearly every part of our state. The one buck rule was a step in the right direction but what keeps us from catching up with Illinois and Ohio, and there's no reason we couldn't, is the length and timing of our firearms season. They are just way too long. 32 total days and usually right during the peak of the rut. It has never made sense to me how a state like Wisconsin, which has three times the number of deer we do, could have a nine day firearm season and we have 32 total days of firearms. Sorry to all you gun hunters who probably wouldn't like to see the gun season shortened but if we're ever to become another whitetail mecca in the midwest, we will have to cut the gun season back.

Blessings.....Pastorjim

in my opinion most of the deer are taken by the second weekend. I would be fine taking out the last week of firearm season and maybe a week out muzzeloader season. Just my opinion.
