Completely uninjured deer, running full out - inside 50 yards

Completely uninjured deer, trotting - inside 100 yards

Wounded deer, any circumstances - any distance

This is the reason I don' t hunt over dogs or anything like that - I feel that the art of ' leading' a deer is so arbitrary that I couldn' t in good conscience do it, regardless of how much I might practice for it.

For me never. Gun, rifle or bazooka.

I wouldn' t do it, I' ld rather wait for a non-moving target.

The deer would have to be pretty close. 50 yards would definatly be the farthest far me. That may even be stretching it.

Running inside 50 I' ll shoot. The farther out they get the slower towards walking speed they should be. Past 100, they got to be stopped.

Running inside 50 yards with a shotgun and buckshot I' ll pile him up. Further than that with a rifle I' ll pass.

I never shoot at them when they' re moving . If I can' t grunt them to a stop I' ll pass every time , there' s no sense wounding them needlessly if it can be avoided .

A lot would depend on the shooting conditions ,but as a rule they would be a hundred yards or less and fairly open shooting . One buck I shot last year was running and I just happened to be shooting over a rest . That one was almost to easy .
