2009-10 deer season closed for me here on Jan. 31. Had a good one too. Freezer is filled witrh fresh venison and I had some to give away as well. Nothing really big killed. Got a noice 10 pt. that barely broke 130 B&C, a heavy but narrow racked 9 pt. that weighed almost 200# and a wide 8 pt. Plus bagged our club's goal of 5 does each membrer. My blood tracker Dachshund, Mojo, found 8 of the 11 he was asked to trail. Of the 3 he did not find, one he tracked for over a mile before the blood trail ended. One I think is a dead deer from the shooter's description of the arrow placement, but it too was trailed a long way before we ran out of blood. Two of the 8 he found, we never would have. My very ill brother (blood cancer) was able to make it another season and despite being weakened by the disease, he managed to kill a decent 8 pt. and a young 7 pt. That in and of itself made my season.
Now to start getting ready for next year. First move ... surgery tomorrow to repair a torn bicep! So maybe next season I can go back to shooting my compound !!
