Need Advice

I need to know if I can still eat the heart and liver out of a gut hit.
I shoot a doe that looks to have hit the top of the stomach and right though the liver. So the liver has a hole right though it. I have wash the liver and heart off real good but it still smells like gut. So what do you guys think.

Not Me

I am one that will not eat internal organs to begin with. Just save me the back straps.

I know MANY who won't eat the internal organs...

But...

I hear mythical stories of how AWESOME the heart tastes, so I indulge in that. I fry in butter, add some salt and pepper... and dine like a King!

Bon appetit!

I wouldn't have to think about it.......when in doubt don't eat it.

Eww, I don't eat the internal stuff anyways, but if I did and it smelled like guts. No, I wouldn't eat it.

Would not risk it.

You could eat it still, but probably dont want to. The heart I pickle, so I would scour it well and use it, but the liver probably would pick up some bowel taste. There actually is nothing in the gut that would make you sick except from your (and our) delicate palate and sensibilities. Deer being a vegetarian, even bowel matter would wash off and not be a big concern. (Never eaten a cow pie? HAH! funnyme.)
