Default 30-30,150 gr vs 170 gr?

I got my grandaddys Winchester 94 in 30-30 for christmas,my local wally world is out of 150s,but they have 170 gr.It will not take a scope, so it will b used in the thick stuff shots under 100 yards(or the longest range i can shoot wit iron sights).Which 1 do yall like better,150s or 170s?

I HAVE ALWAYS Used the 150 Gr, but 170 will work just as well and even better in brushy areas,IMO.
Just 2 weeks ago I decided to take my trusty 30-30 Model 336SC which I have since 1980 and had not shot it since '82 , A calico doe came by the pond where I was just sitting in the brush, she was also in a brushy area but I figure where the shoulder was and let her have it with the 150 Gr, Remington Core lock" She dropped like someone hit her in the head, it is my second Calico doe and I'm glad I had that open site 30-30 for the quick shot.

For that range it wouldn't matter to me, but in the 30-30 I do usually always go with the 150gr. It's flatter, holds more energy downrange(100+yds and just as effective.

Use those 170's. They'll work well.

I've been using scopes for a long time. Back in the day I owned the target when it came to open sights. LOL!

I use to do a trick shot where I would hit a grape fruit size target about as fast as a guy could aim at 75 yards with my 94 30-30. Was nice to have 20-20 vision, but since I was abducted in '99, things haven't been the same.

170 gr is fine.
Just buy enough so you can practice a lot on the range before the actual hunt.
