Default Dead coyote effect on deer?

When my hunt buddies and I were heading to our stands, we found a dead coyote someone had apparently shot. We didn't see any deer that day and my friends blamed the presence of the coyote carcass. Is it true that the presence of a coyote carcass will keep deer out of an area and, if true, for how long?

Not true.

I've shot coyotes and had deer within 20 yards of the dead coyote within the hour.

Also had deer downwind of a dead coyote the next few days after I shot it.

i have seen yotes run within 20 yards of a deer...the deer just watched it pass, and kept on eatin...i do notice the deer dont go around our cleaning spot, but i am not sure if they ever went by there befor we made it our spot.

i would think animals in the forest might connect a dead smell with yotes or other predators. who knows.

If a coyote is down, why wouldn't a deer avoid that area? The deer can certainly smell the coyote, especially if the scent is coming from one specific location.

I honestly don't know the answer to this question and when others say the deer will not be affected, I believe what they say is true but something still doesn't seem right? What am I missing? The coyote is a predator and the deer realize this.
