Default How's this for a first deer!

Some local folks stopped by my work and showed me this deer a few days ago and I have no idea why I didn't take a picture. But then it showed up in a local paper, so check it out! How's this for a first deer!-120209buck-1-.jpg

Pretty good North Missouri deer! It is remarkably similar to one my dad got in the 70's except for dads is a 13 point and this is a 12.

Impressive buck for sure! And, yes, am surprised you didn't take a few snap shots at the time. Which leads to my next question...

You said the story ended up in a local paper? How did you get the picture then? It's a nice one with a shadowed border. Did they have their paper viewable on the net too?

What? Thats a 160" plus deer. Not sure what it takes to excite you, but that is a slammer in my book.

Well the kids name is Drake Fordyce and he goes to school here and I know his dad. They asked me out to see it a few days ago and then, when the picture was in the paper, the Bethany Republican Clipper, I simply went there to their website and stole the pic from there. I hadn't seen the whole deer, just the skull cap and antlers until the newspaper came out. I just typed in republican clipper and clicked on Bethany Republican Clipper, and photo's and scrolled down. Anyway, few folks around here mount the deer they get because it just isn't a priority like eating, so it will end up on a barn wall like so many others.
I've seen these antlers in person and the pic makes it look small.
