New Hunter looking for advice.

Hi guys. I am new to the forum and new to hunting. This year is the first year i have ever been deer hunting and I am 27 years old. I am hooked now. The other day I bought a Raptor Arms 30-06 rifle with a nikon scope. We sighted it in and it seems to shoot really well. I have just never heard of this brand of gun and was wondering what yalls opinion of it was. Thank you for any input.

I'm not familiar with that firearm but I would like to say welcome to the sport/tradition and the forum!

Its like the old saying....its not the arrows but the indian....get out and shoot your gun on paper....know what is shoots at a 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, etc....spend time siting it in and learning to shoot it.....the 30-06 is a great round....as long as you can put it on paper...i gurantee that it will kill just as good as a 700bdl, browning, or ruger.....

Yeah. I sighted it in at 100 yds and it shoots pretty good. I was just curious if there were some opinions about this gun.

Your rifle was made in Shelton CT. It was made around the late 90s, the calibers made was 243,308,25.06 and 30.06. It has an adjustable trigger. Just a tidbit of info on your weapon.

From what I've heard, the Raptor company was bought out by Mossberg. The Raptor rifle is basically repackaged by Mossberg as their ATR. I also heard that Mossberg puts a little more effort into the finish of the gun, but can't vouch for that, never picked up either gun. If parts are ever needed, perhaps Mossberg parts will work?

Anyway, you have a decent shooting '06. Nothing wrong with that!

Thanks guys. I knew it wasnt a high dollar rifle but it seems like a pretty good shooting gun. Again thanks for the info.
