I'm not sure I have favorite yet anyway, like them all. |
30-30, it might not be fancy but it works. I learned a long time ago that I'm not capable of really long range shooting, I keep my shots to under 200 yards and the gun doesn't beat me up when I pull the trigger.

7mm-08 & 6.5mmSwede
|
Ruger 77 UL in 30-06. Federal 180 Barnes TSX
|
I use a 7mm Win Mag. when I gun hunt here in WI. I know a lot a people don't like to hear it, but I really wish they would make this state shotgun only. I really believe it help get the deer numbers where the dnr want them and there would be a lot more quality bucks. At least in the southern part of the state.

No rifles here in illinois either!!! Our gun season is open to shotguns, muzzleloaders, and large pistol. Im takin my winchester 1300 this year with 3 inch federal slugs

* 30-30 * .243 * .270 Caliber used depends on the weather and the setup situation. If it's raining, then the 30-30 gets wet. LOL! Love those Marlin 336's. Title asks favorite caliber though. For me it's the .260 Rem. iSnipe |
My favorite caliber overall is the .270, but it's a close call with .25-06. Other than those two, I'd have to say .30-30. Jack O'Connor proved to me that the .270 Win. is one of the most versatile calibers in existence.

7mm-08 then 30.06

I'm packin' the best brush gun ever made. Marlin 30-30, she's amazing at short range and has lots of knockdown power. I LOVE it. but sadly I've invested into a Marlin .308 and am working on making it a tack driver for next season, it's turning me agains my 30-30. but hey sometimes change is good.
|
I either carry a bolt action .300 win mag or my trusty lever action .300 savage model 99F

I don't know if I have a favorite caliber.
I will admit though, that I am especially fond of my 25-06. I have harvested meat with that round, from distances measured in feet, to several hundreds of yards. My 480 ruger,444marlin, and 6.5JDJ all have special places in my hunting arsenal. |
