i think i shot more deer when i was smoking , then when i wasn't however i won't smoke from a ground blind, and i also pay attention to the wind direction in my tree stand..but in a tree stand i've seen little to no evidence that smoking actually deters deer from coming in closer or coming in at all aslong as you pay attention to the wind...and the smoke doesn't go to where the deer appear to come from i see no problem.

my brother smokes while bowhunting. He has had to put his smoke out while drawing back on deer on multiple occasions ( didnt put it out one time and the bow string caught the smoke and ripped it out of his mouth). The deer don't seem to worried about it, he also hunts with the wind in his favour and usually the deer dont smell him or smoke before its too late.
