Default Moon phases

almost every calender i look at online has the new moon on a different day..any ideas what the truth is.

I literally have seven different calendars here at home, and every one of them shows N0V 16th, the new moon that I'm concerned with.

and farmers almanac says the 18th..and so did 10 othersites, but 10 also said the 15, or 16th

I'm going with the 16th. The link to the almanac, that you yourself provided, shows new moon starting on Nov. 16!!! LOL Make sure your referencing the correct month.
