Is the .243 good for deer ?
Depends where you hunt, here on the internet lots of people talk about these new cyborg deer with bullet proof armor where nothing less than a super duper short ultra allen magnum is neccessary. But for around here where the deer havent developed into these cyborgs it works extremely well.

Yes - Shot placement is the key. A .22 will do the job if done right!

A 243 win is perfect for deer hunting. Just make sure you have a good shot on the deer, and remember to stay calm and touch the trigger. Don't pull the trigger so your gun doesn't miss the deer, and you should have a trophy on your wall. Ken HeilbrunJr.

I bought my son a .243 for his first rifle. While sighting it in for him, I really enjoyed shooting it. After seeing what it did to deer, I went out and bought my very own. Now my .300WSM only comes out for truley Big game. My. 243 is my dedicated deer / antelope / yote gun.

I know of 3 of my buddies that did the very same thing...None wanted it for themselves...Two brought me the guns to sight in for them because they know I have a "few" boxes of .243 ammo for my use...Two more simply switched because they finally saw enough after hunting with me for a few years...

I just bought a new Model 700 in .243 last year after hunting with a .270 for over 30 years. The .270 is a great gun, but I hated shooting it. The .243 is just as good for deer at the distances I have to shoot. Some don't think it is heavy enough, but it's all about shot placement. Some people who aren't as sure about their shooting want something that will blow a leg off at 300 yards.

Yes, the .243 was my first deer rifle. I have always used 90 grain Core-Loks and I have killed more deer with the combo than with my 30-06. Put any bullet in the boiling room, itll kill it
