243 big enough for whitetails?
Guys I know this subject has been covered before but for the early doe season in MN I plan on useing my Tikka 243 with either 90 or 100 grain bullets. My Dad says this is plenty to kill deer with and he has done it before. What do you think?

It damn well better cuz that's what I'm using this year with 100 grain core-loct! :D

I guess it depends on if you can hit your target or not on whether you will kill it! :D I am confidant I will be killing my first buck with dad's 243 remington and filling my doe tags too if I'm lucky. It's schweeeet. :cool2: This will be my first season so I'm pretty excited!

Good Luck and be safe!

243 = No problem. Just practice with it so that you are confident in your shots come hunting season. Good luck.

Definately Enough
I have harvested all my deer with a 243! Hornady SST 95 gr will do the trick out to about 350 yds. It all depends on where you shoot!

only in the hands of a very good shooter, over the years i've seen more big bucks lost with the 243 then any other caliber. but i must admit some weren't hit well. the 243 should do fine with a good bullet. if it were me and i was buying a rifle i'd move up to a 25.06 or a 270win.

My cousin doesn't seem to have any problems,me I still like my '06.

Nope, those little bullets will just bounce right off of a deers hide.
Big game animals wear body armor these days ya know.:s4:
