Default When do antlers stop growing?

I am watching a pair of nice bucks and was wondering if anyone knows when the antlers will stop growing? I was guessing sometime in the beginning of August???

I would guess the growth is about done. Now is when they are starting to harden. I am no deer biologist so I could be wrong.

Depends on where you live. I have a buddy who has land in TX and he says they are about half done. Everything I have read says that the midwest is generally done by August 15th.

I can only judge by what I have seen here in Pa and that is by late august to mid-september they have gotten as big as they are going to get.

rritchy, Our bucks are pretty much done growing by July 21st. and shed their velvet by the 3rd of Sept. I have never even seen a buck still in velvet by mid Sept. in PA. let alone still growing in mid Sept. Pike

It all depends on your location. The earlier the rut, ( as in down south) the earleir the antlers harden. In the upper Midwest, they should be hard by mid to late August, because they will shed velvet aroubnd the first of September. They will add 1 inch per day total gtowht until the quit grwoing.

God blessm

The deer I have seen here in Indiana appear to be getting very close to the hardening stage. They still have a little bit of the club feature to their antlers but for the most part they appear done with the intial growing.
