RE: time for stands?

Honestly, it depends on the type of tree stand that you are using.

For ladder stands and lock-on stands, I try to make sure that the treestands are out by the opening day of squirrel season, two weeks before the archery opening day. These are set over areas that have consistently produced deer year after year.

For my climbing stands (which I prefer to use...and change locations of daily depending on observations), I carry them in with me. It takes me about 15 minutes extra to set up the stand in the morning. If I am hunting the same area the next day, I try to set the stand back upin the evening before leaving for the night.

We try to get our for sure set ups done on good friday every year....but near the beginning of August it's time to get the whole show up in the air.
