I go tocollege in long island and want to hunt deer next season. I usually hunt deer in Connecticut, and it would be too muchto try and go back every weekend for a 2.5 hour drive just to hunt.Does anyone hunt eastern long island about middle suffolk county?

There are lots of places there you can bowhunt and one or two of the state parks have a lottery draw for shotgun hunts.Check the regs book for more info.Shelter Island has some nice bucks.A friend took a really nice 9pt there a while back. You have to take the car ferry over but it's got lots of deer.Good luck!

I think there are more public spots open on the eastern part of the county. Not exactly a wilderness experience on LI but there are a lot of deer and even more ticks that will be crawling all over you.

Good luck man. Unfortunately private land to hunt here in LI is very hard to find but theres plenty of state land and some big deer as well. The only issue is the state land can sometimes have lots of hunting pressure. I have spent a few years to find my "Honey Holes" and even those have been compromised by more hunters in the past few years. However there is still plenty of land and plenty of deer. Good luck.
